GenAI Competition 2.0 Showcase

Sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Department of Philosophy at the University of Georgia.

3 Winners—and an Honorable Mention

1st Place: Inktrap

Project Creator: Sophie Brewer

Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, Lamar Dodd School of Art
Art: Graphic Design
3rd year undergraduate

Our first-place project, InkTrap, was created by Sophie Brewer, a third-year BFA Graphic Design student. This beautifully designed and documented project is a prototype of a website that, by generating images related to a text, may help to improve reading comprehension and engage learners who are not interested in reading. Sophie used generative AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Adobe Firefly, ChatGPT and OpenArt to create the prototype.

The judges were impressed by the creator’s attention to detail (for example, the careful thought about accessibility that the project exhibits), the attractive design, and the extremely thorough and engaging documentation of the work that went into the project.

2nd Place: Athens Music Project Oral History Collection: Interactive Map

Project Creator: Suhan Kacholia

Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, Institute for Artificial Intelligence
Cognitive Science
4th year undergraduate

Did you know that in the basement of Memorial Hall, a lively club called Dante’s Domain would help spark the B-52s? Using geographical data extracted from Athens Music Project Oral Histories—conducted by UGA Libraries as part of the Wilson Center’s Athens Music Project (AMP)—Suhan Kacholia used tools like Google Gemini, Python, and Mapbox to create an app that connects Athens music history to a variety of locations around campus and town.

This interactive project helps make that history more discoverable and engaging. As Kacholia puts it, this project allows students to “connect with the rich musical legacy of Athens and follow in the (literal) footsteps of past Athens creatives and musicians.” We’re excited to see how Kacholia, and others inspired by this project, will continue to evolve and enrich this tool for a wider audience.

3rd Place: MusicNotes

Project Creator: Bianca Wilson

Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, Hugh Hodgson School of Music
Music and Cognitive Science
3rd year undergraduate

This submission excelled at showing the creative process of using AI to bring an idea to life. The student engaged with AI tools to try to create something that could help a broad array of students at UGA. The “music notes” produced for the submission were a bit unrefined and we encourage the student to keep using AI to iterate a polished output.
